Both Dysport and Botox are in high demand, with Botox being the better known. Both are neurotoxins. Neurotoxin treatments are the most popular single cosmetic procedure in the U.S. They are mainly used to smooth dynamic wrinkles, the wrinkles that form as a result of facial movements like frowning, squinting, smiling, and other expressions you tend to make day after day.
Botulinum toxin A is the principal ingredient in both Botox and Dysport. It comes from a food borne toxin produced by Clostridium botulinum. In 1949, it was discovered how to use small doses of botulinum toxin to temporarily paralyze muscles.
In 1989, botulinum toxin A was accepted for use in the treatment of crossed eyes and spasming eye muscles. In the 1990s Botox was used to treat frown lines and wrinkles.
Dysport first became available in the U.K. in 1991, where it was used to treat muscle spasms, particularly those of the face and neck. In April 2009, the FDA approved Dysport for use in the U.S. as a wrinkle treatment.

4. Dysport has some specific target areas
Dysport can target the frontalis muscle whose contraction raises the eyebrows and causes horizontal forehead wrinkles. The injection reduces the wrinkles but also reduces the ability to raise the eyebrows. Dysport can target the corrugator and procerus muscles whose contractions move the inner eyebrows down and in, causing the vertical”11” wrinkles between the eyes. Dysport can target the orbicularis oculi muscle whose contraction causes squinting, moving the outer eyebrows down, creating “crow’s feet” wrinkles. The Dysport injection will reduce the wrinkles and may raise the outer aspect of the eyebrows.
5. If Botox stops working for you, Dysport can, and vice versa
